On the afternoon of July 30, 2026, in Hanoi, Mr. Nguyen Binh Minh, Senior Advisory Board Member on E-Commerce at the Vietnam E-commerce Association (VECOM), attended the Summer Economic Roundtable 2026 themed "From Policy Decisions to Growth." The program was co-organized by the Vietnam Economic Times (VnEconomy) and the Vietnam Economic Association.
Overview of the Summer Economic Roundtable 2026 themed "From Policy Decisions to Growth: Solutions to Drive Double-Digit Growth, Control Inflation, and Maintain Macroeconomic Stability in 2026"
The roundtable was held against the backdrop of 2026 being a year of special significance, as Vietnam is determined to realize high economic growth targets while reinforcing macroeconomic stability, controlling inflation, and consolidating foundations for sustainable development. However, the global landscape is evolving rapidly with shifts in trade policies, global production chain restructuring trends, strategic competition among major economies, and increasingly high demands for digital transformation, green transition, and business competitiveness enhancement.
In Vietnam, accelerating growth drivers and improving execution capacity have been defined in numerous major guidelines and policies of the Party and State aimed at a new development model. Translating policy decisions into tangible growth requires synchronized coordination among macroeconomic policies, timely resolution of institutional bottlenecks, and the enhancement of productivity and market absorption capacity across the business community.
The roundtable focused on discussing solutions to drive double-digit growth in the second half of 2026; evaluating the coordination efficiency between fiscal and monetary policies; responding to supply chain shifts and international tariff policies; developing the infrastructure bond market for national strategic projects; and connecting regulatory bodies, experts, and industry association leaders to construct practical policy recommendations.
Within the program's framework, delegates listened to opening remarks delivered by Dr. Chu Van Lam – Standing Vice President of the Vietnam Economic Association and Chairman of the Editorial Board of VnEconomy; a keynote presentation by Prof. Dr. Hoang Van Cuong on enhancing execution capacity; alongside in-depth presentations by Dr. Can Van Luc on macroeconomic policy coordination, Dr. Bui Trong Thoan on global supply chain shifts, and MA. Duong Hong Ha on infrastructure bond market development.
The highlight of the event was a panel discussion titled "Solutions to Drive Double-Digit Growth, Control Inflation, and Maintain Macroeconomic Stability," co-moderated by Dr. Chu Van Lam, Dr. Can Van Luc, and MA. Duong Hong Ha.
Participating in the discussion were representatives of key industry associations such as the Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association, the Vietnam Electronic Industries Association, the Association of Vietnam Retailers, the Vietnam Fertilizer Association, and the Vietnam E-commerce Association. Representing VECOM at the event was Mr. Nguyen Binh Minh. Speaking at the panel discussion, Mr. Nguyen Binh Minh noted that although e-commerce has consistently maintained positive growth momentum—exceeding 40% in the first half of the year and often outstripping GDP growth by about three times—achieving the target of contributing 30% to the digital economy remains a challenging task requiring significant effort. To address this issue, he emphasized the importance of formulating a standardized, simple, and convenient transition policy to support millions of individual business households, online sellers, and livestreamers in upgrading to formal enterprise models. In parallel, Mr. Nguyen Binh Minh pointed out practical difficulties businesses are currently facing, including compliance cost pressures when new legal regulations take effect, alongside the risk of wasteful spending caused by sub-optimal artificial intelligence (AI) adoption. Finally, given that market violations tend to increase in tandem with market scale, Mr. Minh proposed that regulatory agencies collaborate to establish clear standard codes, rules of conduct, and professional ethics to guide digital business operators, thereby ensuring healthy and sustainable growth for the industry.
Mr. Nguyen Binh Minh, Senior Advisory Board Member on E-Commerce at the Vietnam E-commerce Association (VECOM), presenting at the roundtable
VECOM's participation contributed valuable insights from the e-commerce and digital economy sector to the implementation of growth policy decisions. Amid rapid digital transformation, e-commerce has evolved beyond a modern distribution channel to become essential infrastructure that enables businesses to optimize costs, enhance competitiveness, and expand export markets.
Accelerating growth through e-commerce and the digital economy requires synchronized coordination among regulatory bodies, digital platforms, manufacturers, logistics providers, and consumers. Solutions focus on perfecting the legal framework, developing integrated digital and logistics infrastructure, upgrading digital business capabilities for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and encouraging green, sustainable e-commerce models.
The roundtable provided an opportunity for stakeholders to share practical experiences, identify operational bottlenecks, and propose initiatives tailored to the Vietnamese market context. Through these efforts, the event contributed to forming actionable policy recommendations, driving proactive business community involvement in executing policies toward rapid, high-quality, and sustainable growth.
