End of Digital Transformation Forum in the field of import and export of goods – VOIEF 2020

In the morning of July 28, 2020, the Vietnam E-Commerce Association and the Ministry of Industry and Trade and VCCI co-organized the Digital Transformation Forum in the field of import and export of goods in Hanoi. This is the second time in 3 years that the forum has attracted 500 delegates from state agencies and enterprises related to the import and export of goods.

Speaking at the forum, Mr. Cao Quoc Hung – Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade affirmed that voief forum 2020 was held in the context that the Free Trade Agreement between Vietnam – EU (EVFTA) has been officially signed, opening new doors and creating motivation for the economic development of Vietnam in general and exporters in particular. Along with the opportunities from EVFTA, the trend of transitioning from traditional business to digital platforms is becoming more and more popular and is considered an effective solution to help businesses penetrate and expand export markets in the context of Vietnam's deepening integration with the world economy.

Also at the forum, Mr. Vu Tien Loc – Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry – VCCI affirmed that digital transformation helps us both to have a transparent and effective trade, while solving the problem that no one is left behind in cross-border trade activities. Digital transformation success stories show that digital transformation pioneers are those who are willing to change, willing to abandon traditional business models to establish new business models, re-create supply chains, and decision-making processes , eliminating intermediate stages, cumbersome, form. Organizational innovation on the basis of culture and creativity will be a step to pave the way for the digital economy.

The first session of the Forum with the theme "Digital transformation with cross-border e-commerce" discussed the close connection between digital transformation to import and export of goods, the benefits of participating in online export platforms, the effectiveness of providing online public services , the role of the enterprise's website in export business activities.


Session 1 Talks: Digital Transformation with Cross-Border E-Commerce

The seminar of Session 1 focused on three topics: 1) The role of digital transformation for online export activities. The orientation role of state management agencies, the support of enforcement units, the difficulties of digital transformation at enterprises; 2) The urgency of digital transformation of domestic enterprises and Vietnamese enterprises in Europe to immediately seize the opportunities of the Vietnam – EU Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA); 3) It application for online supply of C/O in general and C/O form EUR.1 according to Circular No. 11/2020/TT/BCT stipulates the rules of origin of goods in EVFTA.

The second session with the theme "Digital transformation solution" delves into the topic of how to successfully transform digital. Digital transformation not only stops at import-export enterprises but must take place simultaneously in many agencies and organizations providing related services. This session emphasizes in the early stages of digital transformation what needs to be paid attention to the three basic factors: digital platforms, digital data and mobile-compatible websites. Representatives of the world's two leading digital platforms, Facebook and Google, have provided information about the potential to exploit these platforms for import and export business.

Session 2 Talks: Digital Transformation Solutions

The speakers of Session Two discussed in depth on the topics: 1) How to help enterprises related to import and export digital transformation? How are the world's leading technology platforms interested in this field? What solutions have been implemented in the country to make it easier for businesses in cross-border e-commerce? 2) A number of outstanding policies and laws as well as feasibility related to digital transformation in the field of import and export, including the draft Decree on customs management for exports and imports traded through e-commerce.

At the Forum, the Ministry of Industry and Trade also opened the Vietnam Export Support Platform ECVN at the address: www.ECVN.com. Vietnam Export Support Platform ECVN version 2020 with many convenient features, noting the Import and Export Business Community feature, making it easy for businesses to find trade opportunities in the online environment.

When the EVFTA comes into force, the Vietnam Export Support Platform ECVN will take advantage of the EVFTA's opportunities to maximize the promotion of online trade, connecting EU and Vietnamese enterprises. In particular, focusing on promoting, enhancing the brand, developing geographical indications for Vietnamese branded products with a large export turnover as well as advantages of Vietnam to the EU, including: textiles, footwear, seafood, coffee, rice, sugar, wood and wood products , fresh and processed fruit and vegetable products; phones, machines, computers...
