Cross-border e-commerce is experiencing rapid growth and has become a key pillar of global trade. On April 7, 2026, the Vietnam E-commerce Association, in collaboration with Access Partnership, will organize the international workshop entitled “E-commerce Promoting Export Activities.” The event aims to provide updated insights into the scale of Vietnam’s online exports, while also discussing opportunities, challenges, policies, and solutions to foster online export growth, particularly in sectors where Vietnam holds competitive advantages.
E-commerce in Vietnam experienced strong growth during the 2016–2020 period and expanded rapidly amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Many enterprises and merchants have adopted digital tools to seek export partners through business-to-business (B2B) models, while gradually implementing direct-to-consumer (B2C) online sales to international markets. Since 2020, major B2C e-commerce platforms such as Amazon and Shopee have actively supported Vietnamese merchants in exporting goods online. In addition, several international payment service providers have played a significant role in facilitating this trend.
Conversely, the trend of Vietnamese consumers purchasing goods online from overseas has been increasing rapidly, particularly via cross-border delivery channels from China through domestic B2C platforms such as Shopee, Lazada, and TikTok Shop. Since 2023, cross-border online imports have attracted growing attention from various stakeholders, including regulatory authorities, industry associations, and domestic enterprises.
In January 2025, the Vietnam Digital Trade Project released the report “Vietnam – Cross-border E-commerce 2024,” providing an overview of global cross-border e-commerce trends and the scale of Vietnam’s online exports and imports in 2024.
In December 2025, at the “Cross-border E-commerce Forum 2025,” jointly organized by the Vietnam E-commerce Association, the E-commerce and Digital Economy Agency, and VITV, iDEA officially announced the scale of Vietnam’s cross-border online exports and imports for 2025.

Access Partnership has conducted some of the earliest and most prominent research on Vietnam’s online exports. Its 2022 report, “Local Sellers, Global Consumers – Capturing the E-commerce Export Opportunity in Vietnam,” was the first to provide quantitative insights into the country’s cross-border e-commerce landscape, while also proposing a range of practical solutions to promote online exports.
In December 2024, the Vietnam E-commerce Association, in collaboration with Access Partnership, organized the Online Export Development Workshop 2024. At this event, Access Partnership released the report “Trade Transformation – E-commerce Transformation in Vietnam.”
In 2025, Amazon Global Selling noted that the growth rate of e-commerce exports in Vietnam has outpaced overall export growth. The number and quality of sellers have increased significantly, while the number of Vietnamese products sold on the platform in 2025 rose by nearly 35% compared to 2024.
The Law on E-commerce, enacted in December 2025, stipulates that the Government shall support and promote cross-border e-commerce, thereby expanding international markets for Vietnamese goods and services. The National E-commerce Development Master Plan for the 2026–2030 period has also outlined key objectives, tasks, and solutions to advance cross-border e-commerce.
In response to these trends, on April 7, 2026, the Vietnam E-commerce Association, in partnership with Access Partnership, will host the international workshop “E-commerce Promoting Export Activities.” The workshop will bring together leaders from government agencies, organizations, and domestic and international enterprises in the fields of e-commerce, digital economy, import-export, trade promotion, and logistics.
At the event, representatives of Access Partnership will present the report “E-commerce Promoting Export Activities 2025,” featuring in-depth analysis of two of Vietnam’s key export sectors: fashion and furniture.
