The national e-commerce development plan for the period 2021-2025 aims to make e-commerce one of the pioneering sectors of the digital economy, where the advanced technologies of the Fourth Industrial Revolution are widely applied to increase the efficiency of the business cycle, contributing to the modernization of the distribution system, improving the competitiveness of enterprises, promoting the development of the domestic market and export. This plan is closely associated with strategies and policies on active participation in IR 4.0, orientation of digital economy development and national digital transformation.
Implementation of Resolution No. 52-NQ/TW and Resolution No. 01/NQ-CP, continuing the Master Plan for e-commerce development for the period 2016 - 2020 (Decision No. 1563/QD-TTg of August 8, 2016 of the Prime Minister The Prime Minister) and the National E-commerce Development Program for the period 2014-2020 (Decision No. 689/QD-TTg of May 11, 2014 of the Prime Minister), on the basis of summing up the results achieved in the previous period, review, assess the current status and needs of e-commerce development in the coming period and receive comments from ministries , branches, localities and the Ministry of Industry and Trade have proposed to the Government for proposals for the development of the Master Plan for the development of national e-commerce for the period 2021-2025 and was passed by the Government in Decision No. 645/QD-TTg of May 15, 2020 (Decision No. 645/QD-TTg).
The Government of Vietnam has long-term and consistent policies to develop e-commerce with master plans for each 5-year period, starting in 2006. Most recently, the Prime Minister's Decision No. 689/QD-TTg of May 11, 2014, approving the National E-commerce Development Program for the period 2014-20 Decision No. 1563/QD-TTg of August 8, 2016 approving the E-commerce Development Master Plan for the period 2016-2020. Following this period, On May 15, 2020, the Government approved Decision No. 645/QD-TTg approving the 2021-2025 National E-commerce Development Master Plan, which is considered an important policy document with comprehensive solutions and specific resources as the basis for the implementation of many e-commerce-related activities in the next 05 years. It is expected that the document will have a great impact on the development of Vietnam e-commerce market, rising to the second position in Southeast Asia by 2025 and becoming the most potential e-commerce market in the region.
