The E-Business Index for many years shows that most of the e-commerce activities have taken place in two economic centers, Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City and some adjacent dynamic provinces such as Bac Ninh, Vinh Phuc, Dong Nai, Binh Duong, and big cities directly under the Central Government are Hai Phong, Da Nang and Can Tho. Online business activities in most other provinces are still weak and there is a risk of falling behind compared to the two leading cities.
VECOM said that it is necessary to narrow the digital divide between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City with other localities. On that basis, VECOM proposed agencies and organizations to jointly develop and implement the "Program Sustainable E-commerce Development" in the period of 2019 - 2025.
The E-Commerce Association (VECOM) has chosen coconut products in Ben Tre province to launch the first project of the Sustainable E-Commerce Development Program. (Click here)
This project is called "Coconut in Ben Tre Online". The project will support small, medium and micro-sized enterprises, households dealing in coconut-related products in Ben Tre province to access and expand their business in the online environment. The project will last from March to the end of 2019 including the Inception and Spreading phase.

The Inception Period lasts from March 1 to May 10, 2019, with the theme "Day of Coconut Village Ben Tre". The main objectives of this phase include: 1) Coconut products and about 15-20 coconut business units in Ben Tre are widely advertised on Lazada. 2) About 50 provincial coconut business units understand the basic skills to sell on the e-commerce market place:
This phase will implement the following four major activities:
Activity 1: March 28, 2019
Organizing Ceremony to announce "Ben Tre Online Coconut" at the VOBF E-Commerce Overview Forum on March 28, 2019, in Ho Chi Minh City.
Activity 2: from March 12 to April 21, 2019
Training for Ben Tre coconut business companies with an overview of online sales and business skills on Lazada floor as well as related operations.
Activity 3: April 25, 2019
Deploying the program "Coconut Village of Ben Tre" on Lazada floor. Lazada will support about 20 coconut enterprises to open booths on the floor and with other members such as VnPost, Interspace ... to support them with successful sales, increasing sales many times compared to the average daily.
Activity 4: from April 22 to May 10, 2019
Implement communication and promotion activities for participating enterprises.
In addition to the members of VECOM, many other agencies and organizations have been interested in supporting the above activities, especially the Provincial Party Committee and People's Committee of Ben Tre province and various departments of the province such as Ben Tre Department of Industry and Trade. Vietnam Internet Center, Ben Tre Coconut Association and a number of other organizations also enthusiastically participated in the Project.
After the end of the Inception phase, VECOM will continue to deploy the Spreading phase with the topic "Coconut in Ben Tre Online". This period has been implemented from May 11 to the end of 2019. During this period, VECOM will support coconut production and business enterprises with total solutions for successful online business, including solutions advanced on multi-channel sales, online marketing, delivery, and payment.
