Vietnam eBusiness Index 2015 was built based in the last year of the implementation of Master Plan for E-commerce Development termed 2011-2015 in accordance with Decision no. 1703/QD-Ttg issued 12th July 2010 by the Prime Minister.
According to the summary report after 5-year implementation, until the end of 2014, 4 big objectives pointed out in the Master Plan have been achieved basically. The first objective is all large enterprises have conducted business-to-business transactions (B2B), with 100% of them using regular emails in operation and 80% of enterprises have a website. The 2nd objective is all small and medium sized enterprises have conducted business-to-consumer transactions (B2C) or B2B, 100% of SME use emails, 45% have websites. The 3rd objective is initially form applications supporting consumers to join B2C and the last objective is a majority of public services related to operation and production is provided online.
On the base of conducting survey on e-commerce application in nearly 5,000 enterprises on national scale, eBusiness Index 2015 (EBI) confirms that the evaluation of Ministry of Industry and Trade is compatible to reality.
E-commerce development is closely related to production and operation in enterprises as well as information technology and communications. Comparing EBI with other newest international and domestic figures would make an overall picture on Vietnam e-commerce in 2015 in the context of globalization.
