7th Executive Committee Meeting

[Khanh Hoa, January 15, 2021] With the approval of the Standing Committee, the Vietnam E-Commerce Association organized the 7th Extended Executive Committee Meeting. This is an annual event held annually to review and evaluate the results achieved and formulated, additional comments to complete the 2021 Work Plan. Attending the conference were members of the Executive Committee for the third term; close members have made many contributions and been attached to the development of the Association over the past time. Especially, at the conference, there was the presence of Mr. Dang Hoang Hai, Director general of E-Commerce and Urban Development Department and representative of Khanh Hoa Department of Industry and Trade.

The conference was opened through the 2020 Summary Report. This summary report builds on the direction of operation passed at the 3rd National Congress of the Vietnam E-Commerce Association, the implementation situation of 2016 - 2020, the master plan for the development of national e-commerce for the period 2021 - 2025 and the practice of e-commerce development.
According to the Association, in 2020 the country is seriously difficult because of the Covid-19 pandemic but basic e-commerce still stands, even with breakthroughs in some areas. Summing up all factors that can predict that Vietnam e-commerce in 2021 will achieve growth equivalent to the average of the period of 2016 – 2020.
Mr. Tran Trong Tuyen – General Secretary of VECOM through the summary report with the task of consulting legal policy: VECOM has cooperated with the organizing agencies, Organize activities to help businesses get closer to digital transformation and the role of e-commerce application under the National E-commerce development program for the period 2014-2020 and comment to the Draft Decree on customs management for exports and imports traded through e-commerce. In addition, VECOM also cooperates with state agencies, namely the Department of E-Commerce and Digital Economy and large organizations (U.S. Business Council - ASEAN, VIA) and member enterprises to organize a series of workshops to consult on the draft Decree amending and supplementing Decree 52/2013 / ND-CP.

Despite the complicated situation of Covid-19 epidemic, in 2020 VECOM has also successfully implemented large-scale annual events nationwide in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City attracting thousands of delegates to attend directly at the forum and hundreds of thousands of delegates to attend online. In addition, VECOM has also successfully organized other small-scale seminars in line with the development of Vietnamese e-commerce such as: Digital Transformation Forum in the field of import and export of goods, Online Tourism Forum, Order Completion Forum,...
Besides organizing events, 2020 is also the 8th year vecom conducts business surveys across the country to successfully build the E-commerce Index 2021. In the context of the Covid-19 epidemic that has severe effects on Vietnam's economy, VECOM also released a report: Vietnam – E-commerce accelerated after the COVID-19 pandemic. This is a valuable document to help businesses have an overview and development orientation after the pandemic to restore business in a stable way. In addition, international cooperation activities, cooperation with localities, professional social organizations ... implemented through forms of e-commerce propaganda and training that have been reported in great detail.
At the conference, the 2021 Work Plan was presented by Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Dung – Vice Chairman of VECOM with specific activities. With legal policy consultation and criticism, VECOM will focus on the program "Sustainable e-commerce development in the period of 2019 – 2025". In 2021 and the following years, VECOM will continue to promote activities to promote online exports, strengthen close cooperation with the Trade Promotion Agency and the Import and Export Department of the Ministry of Industry and Trade and actively comment on legal documents related to customs procedures for online imports.
In 2021 and the next phase, VECOM will implement more practical activities to promote digital transformation in the tourism sector. In addition to the close cooperation with the Travel Association, VECOM needs to step up cooperation with strong platforms such as Google, Facebook as well as domestic IT businesses. In addition, VECOM also promotes blockchain technology application activities for the development of e-business.
At the end of the conference, VECOM received many positive comments from members of the Executive Committee as well as members for the 2020 Operation Plan and specific strategic orientations and implementation methods for 2021.
